Importing Music

Import existing music into your yoink library.

yoink can scan directories and import music files into its database, matching them to artists and albums.

Import currently works most reliably with folder structures created by yoink itself. External folder structures (iTunes, manual organization) may not be parsed correctly in all cases.

yoink's folder structure is opinionated as {{Artist}}/{{Album}}/{{Track Number}} - {{Track Title}}.{{ext}}. If your existing music is organized differently, yoink may not be able to match files to the correct artists and albums, resulting in unlinked tracks or albums in the library.

This may change in the future.

Import from yoink Library

Scanning the MUSIC_ROOT directory discovers files that yoink downloaded but that aren't yet tracked in the database (e.g., after a database reset).

External Import

You can also import music from directories outside of MUSIC_ROOT. yoink will attempt to match the files to artists and albums based on folder structure and file metadata.

File Browser

The import page includes a file browser that lets you navigate the container's filesystem to select directories for import.
