Artist Management

Add, monitor, link, and manage artists in your library.

Artists are the top-level organizational unit in yoink. You add artists from search results, link them to multiple providers. yoink automatically performs a full sync of an artist's discography when you add them, pulling in all albums and tracks from linked providers.

Adding an Artist

Artists can be added from the search page.

Artist Detail Page

The artist detail page shows:

  • Artist info (name, bio, image)
  • Discography: all albums linked to this artist
  • Provider links: which external services this artist is linked to
  • Match suggestions: automatically generated suggestions for linking to other providers

Linking Providers

A single local artist can be linked to identities on Tidal, Deezer, and MusicBrainz. This lets yoink combine metadata from all sources into one unified artist page.

Monitoring

If you add a track or album whose artist is not yet in your library, yoink creates a new artist in an unmonitored state. This means the artist exists in your library but their discography is not tracked or synced.

  • Unmonitored: artist exists in your library but their discography is not tracked
  • Monitored: yoink syncs the artist's full discography and tracks new releases

You can promote an unmonitored artist to monitored from the artist detail page. This triggers a full sync of their discography and starts tracking for new releases.

Syncing Discography

When you sync an artist, yoink pulls album and track data from all linked providers and merges it into the local database.

Match Suggestions

yoink can automatically suggest provider matches for artists based on fuzzy name matching and other heuristics.
